MEISKIN ON MY-SKIN >

'MEISKIN' ON MY SKIN > SISJ beauty review

Read my bio it's all there... "she is an avid lover of all-things girlie" - yes, indeed I am! This last week I have been hiding in the background trialling a new product line called, Meiskin - here are my thoughts >

On top of the perfectly minimalist and chic branding, these products are natural, smell amazing and are available with a feel-good twist pump - I love a good beauty pump. All Meiskin products are paraben-free and there is absolutely no testing on animals. I chose the MANIHANDS: (derr, cat-lady for hand-cream in da'house!), AFTER PHYSIQUE: because I am a total fitness freak and need rehydrating on-the-go, TWENTY-FOUR7: my daily body moisturiser (citrus/almond oil - amaaazing!) & KARAMEL KREME SELF TANNER: because I am a self-confessed tan-a-holic! This warm tone is perfect for spring and an alternative to a deep dark tan (both of which I love!). For the best results with the tan, do not shower for 8-10hours. You will also be pleased to know this product has NO smell (your partners and friends will love you for it!).

I am so happy with all of these products and highly recommend them. They are also extremely well-priced and affordable. All products are available to shop online (aka, secret girlie shopping that no-one has to know about). SISJ x

'THEY'JUST DON'T GET IT >

A pain that only my fellow ladies would understand > #justsayin

LIFE IN COLOUR - NOW TRENDING >

LIFE IN COLOUR
> now trending for #SS13

Highpoint Shopping Centre showcased the hottest SS13 trends last week on the Life in Colour Runway. The '60s mod-trend and shift dress made an appearance, skirt suits are back with a vengeance, wearable monochrome prints, a new twist on the classic midriff, a little bit of lace and floral for all the pretty ladies and of course, COLOUR!

Here are some of my how-to tips on executing these trends for day-to-day wear >

HOW TO ROCK RETRO: retro and flower power has never looked so good - it's official! Pardon the pun, but everything old is new again. The shift dress, the A-line skirts and the matchy-matchy print suits are back in and hotter than ever! Complete this look with solid coloured accessories and a simple hair-do.

PRINT PAIRING: whether it's vertical, horizontal or diagonal, there's no way to avoid candy stripes and squares for SS13. I hope you are all feeling adventurous as this look breaks all the design principles instilled in us from birth (ok, that was slightly over-dramatic!). Definitely embrace the black and white pairing this season, but be brave and attempt some colour combos you normally wouldn't - I promise you, anything goes! > navy & black, pink & red, monochromatic tones of each and every colour, or, the rainbow!

CAREFUL CROPPING: so if you didn't already realise the 90's crop-top has made a BIG comeback this season. Bare midriffs (minus the belly-button ladies) and crop-tops have become a bona fide SS13 trend - and personally, my fave!

Now I can hear you squirming, eeek "midriff - hell no!", and I completely understand. To take on this trend you definitely need to muster up a little confidence and swagger! The best area with the least amount of "loose bits", is the top third of your rib cage (just under where you bra sits, down about 5 - 12cm). You can show as little or as much skin as you are comfortable with, just no belly buttons please. I love styling a crop-top with an A-line skirt - I feel comfortable, feminine and on-trend. To complete the look pair it with a blazer and some cute wedges or sandals. This trend looks great in block colours, prints or both.

I hope you have enjoyed my runway wrap-up and styling tips for SS13 - SISJ x

MY HEIGHTENED SENSE OF SMELL >

A new discovery, a new smell > Aquiesse candles
After a military-like grocery attack on the South Melbourne Market over the weekend, I came across these bad boys! With seven bags full of fresh fruit and veg, the best Dukkah in Melbourne and doggy treats imprinting themselves on my poor fingers and wrists, I still managed to smell every candle in this store! As you are all probably aware I am a sucker for a pretty smell. I am convinced I have an abnormally high sense of smell which results in all my pocket money being spent on candles! Eeek! If you are a candle freak like me definitely check these out - the packaging is also stunning! I purchased this candle at @Luxe by design (South Melbourne Market).

MY CANDLE: White Ginger Lily from the Portfolio Collection, no. 303 (exotic lily, muguet, sweet ginger & white musk)

Here are some more snaps from my day at the market. All the things I love most > cheese, dried fruit, dukkah, oil and pork buns!

SISJ DOES ROSE HIP OIL >

SISJ BEAUTY REVIEW >

I have been using the Kosmea certified organic rose hip oil for 10 days now and already the visible results are undeniable - see for yourself!

My overall skin tone (including colour & texture) has improved significantly. This of course also helps prolong your daily make-up life (aka, less touch-ups!). I have also noticed a huge difference in the appearance of dark circles under my eyes. I will admit, the dark circles only appear if I have previously been unwell or very tired. I used this uber hydrating oil as a spot treatment under my eyes and within five days I noticed a huge improvement.

If you do suffer from oily or acne prone skin, I would definitely use this sparingly and only 2-3 times per week. Like any new product or beauty treatment your skin will need to adjust or in some cases reject, and this doesn't happen overnight! It's all about trial and error. However, I 100% believe in all the theoretical steps of skincare: cleansing, toning, exfoliating and moisturising - what products you use though is entirely up to you. You know your skin and what works for you, now cross-check that with what each product contains - and don't get suckered in by pretty packaging!

TIPS FOR OILS & SERUMS:

  • Try and avoid smothering oils across your entire face unless required (sun damage, damaged/broken skin, scars)
  • Ideally try to apply these to the larger surface areas of your face, eg. cheeks, under eyes, neck and forehead if you can
  • Aim to avoid or use sparingly in typically oily or acne/pimple prone spots (t-zone)
  • These oils and serums are also fantastic at hydrating and improving the appearance of other dry areas on your body - knees, shins, elbows and ankles (good fake tan prep!)
  • The rose hip oil is also a great body moisturiser for all the same reasons - rehydrating, rebalancing and overall improved appearance (again, maybe a regime you only do 1-3 times per week)

LEFT-HAND PIC: me with small amount of make-up - increased glow, hydration and tone

RIGHT-HAND PIC: me with no make-up! The natural light highlights the NO dark circles under my eyes!

ALL ABOARD THE GREEN TRAIN! >

SISJ GREEN SUPER SMOOTHIE!

As you all know I am riding the green train, now here is some proof! In my absolute own way that is ;) I tried the extreme green smoothie and let's just say it wasn't pretty... So, I created a breakfast drink that was good enough! Voilà!

Today I combined 1.5 cups of So Good Almond Milk, 2 handfuls of organic baby spinach, 1 x banana, 8 x strawberries, 4 x chunks of organic pineapple and 2 x leafs of Kale (2 is my limit!)

This smoothie is super yummy and keeps me full until lunchtime. Stay tuned as my green repertoire expands and develops!

WHAT'S ON MY FACE? >

WHAT'S ON MY FACE?

As requested, here is a quick snap of what's on my face!

When it comes to foundation and concealers I am generally quite brand loyal. However, I do find my skin varies in appearance and texture all the time. This could be due to factors such as: weather (season, temperature, hay fever etc.), diet and of course, sleep (or lack of!). These varying factors will then dictate why I wear a certain foundation - taking into account their features and benefits. For example, on a day where my skin is dry/dull I will add the Chanel - Sheer Illuminating fluid to add that extra glow and depth to my skin. The Inglot Cream Concealer has been my number one (and only) concealer for the last few years. This cream is hydrating and works wonders under the eyes.

CONCEALER: Inglot - Cream Concealer (#67)

BRONZING SERUM: By Terry - Hydra-Bronzing Tinted Serum (sun glow)

FOUNDATION: Ellis Faas - available at Mecca Cosmetica, Giorgio Armani - Designer Lift & Chanel - Sheer Illuminating Fluid

MONDAY BLUES & GREY HUES >

WINDY WARDROBE > OOTD

It's tough being in a relationship with Melbourne. Last week we had multiple days of sunshine and 26deg, today... We have howling winds, grey sky and a very average temp. This leaves me with no other choice than to call on my winter wardrobe (again)!

Where flavour, artistry and passion meet

Xocolatl Artisan Chocolates and Café is a family owned and operated business located in two of the biggest café hubs in Melbourne - Kew and Mailing Road, Canterbury. Xocolatl is dedicated to producing quality products, a unique dining experience and being at the forefront of flavour design and innovation.

The European tradition of chocolate making and the romantic old-world interiors of Xocolatl, has been captured perfectly by the Partsioglou family. Master Chocolatier, Christos Partsioglou (aka, Pappa!), with his youngest daughter Tina, locally produce Belgian couverture chocolates. Christos who is artistically trained brings a distinctive flare and design to each of his hand-crafted pieces (as well as all the artwork and packaging!). Some of the popular flavours include: Cherry Liqueur, Balsamic Strawberries, Basil & Champagne, Cardamom, Shiraz Cassis, Gorgonzola & Mango and ‘Goat’s Cheese & Peach Jelly - and this is why they are leaders in both the chocolate and food industries here in Melbourne! The combination of flavours, the impeccable design and finesse across all aspects of the business will see this family continue to achieve great things. I highly recommend you visit the team at Xocolatl for your next event or girlie catch-up.

FOR THE HEALTH CONSCIOUS > Xocolatl use only couverture which as no artificial flavours or preservatives #doublebonus !!!
