Nars & Pierre Hardy = AMAZING!

BEAUTY MUST-HAVE >
The limited edition, Nars & Pierre Hardy blush

I very innocently stumbled across this AMAZING blush on my recent visit to Mecca Cosmetica and it has truly ROCKED my beauty-world! I say innocent, as my intentions were to only purchase my usual foundation and a candle. Oopsie!

I have previously been using the famous Orgasm colour, however, I do find it a little too pink and candy-like.This Pierre Hardy limited edition blush is more of a deep coral colour, with a hint of gold to illuminate the top of the cheek bone. I cannot recommend this product highly enough. So much so that I plan to buy ten more before they disappear forever!

UNDERSTANDING SKIN AGING >

Understanding skin aging, with Dr Richard Young.

One of the commonest question I get is how do I stop the visible aging of my skin?
To answer that one we have to understand what is causing visible skin aging.

As we get older, and quite possibly accumulate more total hours exposed to the sun, we lose collagen and elastin from our skin. These proteins give skin is elasticity and are responsible for it's ability to bounce back after being stretched. Just look at a baby's skin and how it instantly snaps back into shape when you squeeze a chubby cheek! Now compare that to your grandmother's cheek, and see how the skin wrinkles and sags, it's the exact opposite.

Now we know collagen and elastin loss through aging causes wrinkling, sagging and loss of elasticity, but how do we delay this process as much as possible? The number one tip is good old sunscreen. Look at two 50 year old women, one from Australia and one from England. It's like they're from a different planet! Wear your sunscreen!

The biggest secret of all is Retin-A. This cream derived from vitamin A is THE ONLY substance ever PROVEN to replace lost collagen and slow down natural loss through aging. It's very very slow working, and it's about making it part of your beauty regimen permanently, but devotees who have been using it for 12 months or more know it's amazing power! As a wonderful little by-product it gives a microscopic peel to that dead top layer of the epidermis, the stratum corneum. If the dead top layer gets too thick skin looks lifeless and dull. Peeling it freshens and tightens the appearance. The only catch for this wonder cream? The only effective preparations are on prescription and therefore available through your doctor or dermatologist.

MY BIG NEWS! With Natalie Chapman >

Natalie Chapman.
I am SO excited and extremely humbled to be working with Australian designer, Natalie Chapman, on some big projects in the very near future
> w a t c h   t h i s   s p a c e !

In 2008, Natalie Chapman the founder and designer of the brand started making dresses and selling to boutiques stores Across Australia. With years of experience and knowledge Natalie now transforms the brand into it's potential image.
In 2010 Natalie travelled to New York to represent new emerging designers of the Australian Fashion Industry at G'Day USA New York. 2011 saw NATALIE CHAPMAN launch its first custom print trans-seasonal collection "ROCKPOOL", with the launch sponsored by the Ivy Pool in Sydney, Australia.
2012 Natalie took a turn to concentrate on the US Market. Whilst building the brand in the US market Natalie has dressed celebrity clientele from Music artists to TV  personalities. To name a few Paulini Curuenavuli, Shontelle, Megan Hilty, Asha K and Jaslene Gonzalez. With the growth of the brand in the US, Natalie took the BULLETPROOF collection to New York to be part of the finale show at New York Fashion Week SS 2012. Natalie produced a couture gown to release the new line. Natalie showcased on America's Next top model finalist Jaslene Gonzalez. The brand stepped into immediate recognition walking amongst design powerhouses Badgley Mischka, Betsey Johnston and DKNY to name a few. The couture gown took the audience and leading fashion buyers by surprise. The experience has lead to the next platform taking the 2013 collection to New York Fashion Week for the brands first runway show.

Natalie took New York Fashion Week by storm with her Ready to Wear 2013 collection. Among the 25 pieces showcased at the Empire Hotel the brand is now building buyer relationships starting on the Upper East Side. The collection took the liking of reality TV Star Aviva Drescher from the Real Housewives of New York City. The star pulled immediately with the first appearance at the following NYFW show Betsey Johnston straight after Natalie's show.
The inspiration and development of the designer has reached the direction of the dramatic edge to the classic and sophisticated style the brand executes. NATALIE CHAPMAN will continue with the growth in the US market.
"A NATALIE CHAPMAN woman is wearing the classic and sophisticated silhouette with bold expression". Confidence, class in her silhouette that endears elegance with colour that pops out.

My interior design inspiration > The Grand Trianon & Palace of Versailles

MY INTERIOR DESIGN INSPIRATION -
Marie Antoinette & The Grand Trianon

My recent visit to the Palace of Versailles in Paris blew me away! I was particularly fascinated by the provocative history and romance surrounding Marie Antoinette. This beautiful (and scandalous!) Queen of France became a symbol of extravagance in the 18th century. Her love of fashion, fun and style captured my imagination and has inspired me today, in my own interior design styling.

These are some photographs I took of the main Palace of Versailles. Below is The Grand Trianon - another palace where Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI would often escape for the weekend (much like our weekender at Sorrento - kind of!). Each room is decorated perfectly and the use of colour, pattern and texture is exquisite. The overwhelming luxuriousness and grandiosity of these rooms will stay with me forever.

With our big move only 10 sleeps away (whoo hoo!), I am like a kid in a candy store! While it's a brand new, super modern design, I have still included some feature French-style pieces. I have bought a beautiful black and white dressing table with a stunning black Louis XVI inspired chair. I am accessorizing this table with very girlie ornaments - a vintage clock, crystal jewelry box, perfume and of course flowers!

I will post some finished photographs very soon! In the meantime, if you would like any information of where I love to shop in Melbourne and online, email me at she-is-sarahjane@live.com.
