My interior design inspiration > The Grand Trianon & Palace of Versailles

MY INTERIOR DESIGN INSPIRATION -
Marie Antoinette & The Grand Trianon

My recent visit to the Palace of Versailles in Paris blew me away! I was particularly fascinated by the provocative history and romance surrounding Marie Antoinette. This beautiful (and scandalous!) Queen of France became a symbol of extravagance in the 18th century. Her love of fashion, fun and style captured my imagination and has inspired me today, in my own interior design styling.

These are some photographs I took of the main Palace of Versailles. Below is The Grand Trianon - another palace where Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI would often escape for the weekend (much like our weekender at Sorrento - kind of!). Each room is decorated perfectly and the use of colour, pattern and texture is exquisite. The overwhelming luxuriousness and grandiosity of these rooms will stay with me forever.

With our big move only 10 sleeps away (whoo hoo!), I am like a kid in a candy store! While it's a brand new, super modern design, I have still included some feature French-style pieces. I have bought a beautiful black and white dressing table with a stunning black Louis XVI inspired chair. I am accessorizing this table with very girlie ornaments - a vintage clock, crystal jewelry box, perfume and of course flowers!

I will post some finished photographs very soon! In the meantime, if you would like any information of where I love to shop in Melbourne and online, email me at she-is-sarahjane@live.com.
