COLOUR HUB WRAP-UP!

HUB-KNUBBING HIT > A big thank you to the fabulous team at the Highpoint Spring Racing Colour Hub last Friday night, I had a wonderful evening!

It was great to meet fashion stylist Margaret Kernich (aka Miss Bossy Boots!) and discuss all this season's trends as well as race day etiquette. As I am a traditionalist at heart so the fashions of Melbourne Cup Day excite me the most! A tailored silhouette dress or skirt and blazer, gloves and a hat are a must for me. While I do love the elegance of Cup Day, you can't help but love the fun fashion and freedom of Oaks Day! For me Oaks Day is the green light to go crazy with colour, pattern, open toe shoes and a crowd stopping head piece. There are some stunning floral and vibrant dresses/skirts available at Alannah Hill, Kookai & Rodeo Show - all of which you can find at Highpoint Shopping Centre.

The highlight of the evening though was definitely meeting the uber talented milliner, Penelope D'Alton. I was photographed by the lovely Timothy Burgess in two of her designs (above & below). All Penelope's designs are custom made in Melbourne using the finest materials. I absolutely fell in LOVE with the yellow head piece (I literally tried it on and off 4 times!). We had a great chat about millinery trends for this season as well as discussing headwear etiquette - for example, which side to position the head piece on, how far to dip it down/across the face and obviously what shape and type of hat suits each individual face shape.

Thank you again to the Highpoint Colour Hub styling team for having me, it was a informative and fun session! See you on the track! SISJ x
