MODEL WOMEN & MY STORY - dedicated to my beautiful mother & sister, I love you.

m o d e l  women -
for their professional & personal success, leadership and beauty

IMAGE # 1 - JANE FONDA: Jane Fonda, born Lady Jayne Seymour Fonda on December 21, 1937, is an American actress, writer, political activist, former fashion model and fitness guru. She rose to fame in the 1960s with films such as Barbarella and Cat Ballou. She has won two Academy Awards and received several other movie awards and nominations during more than 50 years as an actress. After 15 years of retirement, she returned to film in 2005 with Monster in Law (with Jeniffer Lopez), followed by Georgia Rule two years later. She also produced and starred in over 20 exercise videos released between 1982 and 1995.

A long-time activist for raising awareness of violence against women, Jane Fonda is particularly inspiring to me. Growing up in a household with an alcoholic and abusive father I learned a lot, and very quickly. I developed a very protective instinct over my younger sister and mother, which will probably never leave me. I learned to value and appreciate what I did have every single day - love, support, education and opportunities. No matter how bad things got at home my mother always provided me and my sister with so much love, support and laughter. There have been many obstacles to overcome, regarding trust, men and justice in my situation. Looking back, I wouldn't be the woman I am today without the strong and beautiful women in my family. I love you all so much, and thank you.

IMAGE # 2 - LILLY COLLINS: Lily Jane Collins, born 18 March 1989, is an English actress, model, and television personality, known for her roles in the films The Blind Side, Abduction and Mirror Mirror. Collins was born in Surrey, England, and is the daughter of English musician Phil Collins. While Lilly is in the early stages of her career, I admire her poise, talent and remarkable beauty. She is one to watch!

IMAGE # 3 - ITA BUTTROSEIta Clare Buttrose, AO, OBE, born 17 January 1942, is an Australian journalist and businesswoman. She was the founding editor of Cleo magazine Australia, and later as the editor of the more sedate Australian Women's WeeklyShe is the youngest person ever to be appointed editor of the Weekly, which was then per capita, the largest-selling magazine in the world. Her ongoing advocacy of the National Advisory Committee on AIDS (NACAIDS), Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and Alzheimer's Australia is truly inspirational.
Ita Buttrose is undoubtedly Australia's most successful female journalist. She is also a highly acclaimed author, community health activist and a mother. She has executed all of this with absolute style, poise and grace - a true inspiration to women everywhere.

I was also lucky enough to hear Ita speak recently at the Melbourne Business Chicks Breakfast held at Atlantic Group, Docklands (www.businesschicks.com.au). She spoke candidly about her illustrious career, balancing work and home life and her passion for community health awareness. I subscribe to the personal belief of the importance of women having their own career/interests as well as a family and relationship. Who better than Ita Buttrose to inspire my personal and professional choices. I feel very honoured to have heard her speak, and I will keep her words with me forever.

Be kind to each other. Be strong. Inspire.
